The right office desk – functional and stylish
These desks make working a pleasure
Durable quality and attractive design—two qualities that are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary: a desk must combine both. An office desk has to withstand a lot, as it is a work surface. Since you spend more time sitting at an office desk than at any other table, it must be functional. A high-quality office desk is therefore a height-adjustable desk. The aesthetic effect should not be underestimated. A beautifully furnished workspace is a place where you feel at ease, enjoy spending time and are happy to work. It doesn’t matter whether you’re furnishing a professional office or a private home office.
Practical features
When choosing an office desk, you should consider whether a basic model meets your requirements or whether you need additional features. One feature that is standard on many desks is height adjustment. A height-adjustable desk can be set precisely to your height and helps you maintain an ergonomic posture. Especially in a professionally furnished office where you spend the whole day, it is well worth investing in a height-adjustable desk. If you like to alternate between standing and sitting whilst working, a flexible office desk that allows for a wide range of height adjustment is recommended. If the adjustment is electric, the motor stops immediately if it encounters resistance. As a further safety measure, you can lock the adjustment mechanism with a lock. Some models can be adjusted in height by turning a knob on the legs, allowing them to be adapted to various floor conditions.
An integrated cable management system is also highly practical, not only for aesthetic reasons but also to prevent cables from becoming trip hazards.
The size of the work surface
The required workspace is a key factor when purchasing a desk. Is it enough for you to simply open your laptop on the desk? Do you want to switch quickly between a PC workstation and another space where you can leave your documents? Do you work with lots of stacks of paper, or do you even need space for a filing system on your desk? Do you also want to hold client meetings at your desk?
The space-saving corner desk
A corner desk is ideal if you need plenty of space. It offers almost as much storage space as two desks; as it can be placed in a corner of the room, it takes up relatively little space itself. Especially at home, where a whole room isn’t always available for a home office, a corner desk can make furnishing easier. In most cases, this leaves enough space in the room for another use. For example, to fit in a guest bed. A practical, simply designed corner desk creates space for other activities in the room. A rolling cabinet can also be placed under the large worktop for even more storage space. Our desks are available in various colours – alongside wood finishes in different styles, they also come in elegant white or modern black.
Melamine: a popular material in the office
In offices, it is not uncommon for desks to be moved around, temporarily stored or used by several people. In short: the more robust, the better. The miracle solution for maintaining a brilliant appearance is called melamine. This transparent coating is applied to table tops. It ensures that the office desk is scratch-resistant and very easy to maintain. Ballpoint pen ink and stamp ink can be easily wiped away with a damp cloth.
Office desks with a melamine coating are available in many sizes, colours and wood finishes. Coated with a layer of melamine and featuring an extremely simple design, a desk with this worktop leaves plenty of room for creative ideas. The height-adjustable desk stands firmly on four metal legs, also in white.
A wooden desk offers a natural material. As a naturally renewable raw material, wood creates a robust atmosphere in the room.
A wooden desk for a natural ambience
If you want to bring a touch of natural colour into the office, opt for a desk made from oak or cherry veneer.
In addition to wooden and melamine desks, our range also includes office desks with a glass top. With many models, you can choose between a melamine or glass top. The white glass, combined with the white metal frame, gives any office a modern feel.
Combining enjoyment and work: creative ideas for the home office
The world of work is increasingly moving into our own homes. Setting up a workspace at home, where a whole room isn’t always available for work, is becoming increasingly popular, but it also presents challenges. On the one hand, you want to create a corner where you can be undisturbed and concentrate. On the other hand, you don’t want to be constantly reminded of work during your free time. What is needed are solutions that seamlessly blend into the living space yet still enable professional work. In our range of desks, you will find gems that effortlessly strike this balance. Our typical home office desks are smaller than the classic ones. These decorative pieces of furniture are generally not height-adjustable desks. These include wooden desks that create a natural, cosy look, as well as more extravagant models. Their shape is reminiscent of writing desks, but with a modern twist. A typical example of this style is a multi-tiered desk. Its storage space is limited but cleverly distributed across two levels. This means you can quickly tidy up after work. The crossed legs with mirror inlays and the dark, matt-lacquered MDF tabletop are particularly eye-catching. A beautiful wooden desk in the form of a secretary desk is crafted from solid American walnut. Its natural look even allows it to be placed in the bedroom.
