The insert frame as the perfect basis for restful sleep
Although you can't see it, the base frame is the foundation for a good night's sleep. A high-quality mattress is only worthwhile if you choose the right base frame to go with it. For a restful night's sleep, the combination of mattress and slatted frame must provide optimum support, regardless of the sleeping position. If the slatted frame is not optimised for you, there is a risk of back pain, neck pain and headaches. Among other things, the slatted frame performs an important function in favour of bed hygiene. The mattress is ventilated through the cavities between the slats. This is necessary because you sweat a lot at night. In order to feel comfortable, it is important that moisture is removed from the mattress. Otherwise there is a risk of mould forming on the mattress. However, if the distance between the individual slats were too large, this would have equally negative effects.
An insert frame offers an ergonomic overall experience: the task of the insert frame is also to support the effect of the mattress. Just like the mattress, the slatted frame is therefore also divided into different zones.
The zones of the slatted frame
Regardless of whether the slatted frame measures 160x200 cm, 140x200 cm or 90x200 cm, it has different zones over a length of 200 cm that are tailored to the body structure. The human body has different centres of gravity, which sink into the mattress and therefore into the slatted frame to different depths. The hips and shoulders are heavier and therefore sink deeper than the back in the lumbar vertebrae area or the legs. A slatted frame must therefore adapt precisely to the body in these areas and support the back in the right places. As a rule, the different zones of an insert frame mirror each other. You are therefore also optimally supported if you change the lying direction, i.e. lie with your head on the foot section. A high-quality slatted frame develops its effect right up to the side edges. This means that you are optimally supported, regardless of how intensively you move during the night and whether you tend to lie in the centre of the bed or at its edge. The firmness of some slatted frames can be individually adjusted.
The size of the slatted frame
From standard models to high-tech frames, we offer insert frames for every need. All models are available in different bed sizes. For example, there are slatted frames measuring 90x200 cm, 140x200 cm, 160x200 cm or 180x200 cm. Most slatted frames are available in widths of up to 180 cm, and some are also available in oversized widths of 200 cm. The difference between the individual models is 20 cm in each case. For maximum comfort, the size of the insert frame must correspond to the dimensions of the mattress. The 90x200 cm slatted frame is ideal for a single bed. The 140x200 cm slatted frame is suitable for a narrow double bed in a small bedroom. The 160x200 cm slatted frame is suitable for a double bed of average width. It is also possible to place two 90x200 cm slatted frames of different designs next to each other in a double bed.
Insert frame with adjustment options: Electric with motor
When buying a slatted frame, it is important to ask yourself the following questions: Is a rigid insert frame sufficient or is a more elaborate model with adjustment options desired. If you decide in favour of adjustment options, it is important to define whether these should affect the head section and/or the foot section. Most slatted frames are adjusted manually; various predefined heights are possible using a grid. With some models, you can also opt for electric adjustment. This extra is very convenient as it is operated at the touch of a button, without any effort, using a remote control. Electric adjustment is usually infinitely variable. Another advantage is that you don't have to get up to activate the adjustment.
Insert frame with adjustable head section
Especially when you are ill, you like to raise the head section a little higher. Although you spend the day in bed, you can make yourself as comfortable as possible. At night, the raised head helps you to breathe freely. Various manufacturers offer separately adjustable mattress bases for 160x200 cm or 180x200 cm double beds. Of course, an adjustable headboard is also very welcome and comfortable if you like to watch TV or read a book before falling asleep in bed.
Insert frame with adjustable foot section
Adjusting the foot section is a great way to relax your legs. Especially those who often complain about heavy legs will find it a relief to put their feet up at night after a hard day's work standing up.
The best material for an insert frame
A high-quality bed base can be recognised by the following characteristics: it has a sturdy frame and is made of wood that has been glued together several times. We also offer bed frames with a frame made of lightweight aluminium. Insert frames made of carbon fibre are a real innovation. The material is super-light and ensures optimum stability. Our range includes slatted frames with carbon frames that look anything but conventional insert frames. For example, the Carbon Flex insert frame from the Swiss manufacturer Riposa. Simple in design and without visible slats or joints, this type of bed base no longer needs a concealing bed frame, but can stand on its own with feet.
